TEN TO TWO
Should I catch the leaves as lazily they fall
As the sundial traces shadows on the wall?
All my letters fade as fast as I write
As each day bows its head to the night
And it’s carved of ice from winters that we’ve known
Told by wizened kings that shiver on their thrones
If you turned off the light you might see
There’s no reason to cry to be free
Turn off the light/ Hold me now and give me your hand
But don’t close your eyes/ Say you’ll not go away
You’ll be shedding your skin till a new day begins/Ships in the night side by side for awhile
And the time it will slip away/And time slips away
There’s the thrill that shudders through my fingertips
There’s a summer kiss still burning on my lips
Every sea hauls its salt to the shore
And I know I have been here before
Turn off the light/ Hold me now and give me your hand
But don’t close your eyes/ Say you’ll not go away
You’ll be shedding your skin till a new day begins/Ships in the night side by side for awhile
And the time it will slip away/And time slips away
At the bend in the road I’ll wait for you
The parish clock is stuck at ten to two
Give me your hand
As time slips away
Time slips away
